Florence Barotz passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 30th, 2021 two months shy of her 98th birthday. Born in New York City, Florence will be laid to rest on Sunday June 2, 2021 at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Queens, New York.
Florence will lie between her husband Joseph David Barotz and her daughter Barbara Ellen Barotz. She leaves behind her living children Norman Lewis Barotz, his wife Maddie, Charles Stuart Barotz and wife Robin Barotz, her grandchildren Daniel Isaac Barotz, Samuel Brandon Barotz, Julia Helena Barotz and Sharon Barotz as well as her great grandchildren Joseph David Barotz, Benjamin Asher Barotz and Sarah Julia.
Florence lived a vital life in the Bronx, N.Y. as a homemaker raising her three children. She was loved and brought joy to all who knew her with her quick wit and sense of humor. She was the last of 6 siblings to pass and was truly the matriarch of her family. When her daughter Barbara died an untimely death in 1968 of kidney disease, Florence became active in the Kidney Foundation of New York and served as the president of the Kidney Foundation of Greater New York while raising significant monies for research and care of those afflicted by the disease. Florence moved to Delray Florida in 1975 and then to Denver, Colorado in 2007 to be near her son Charles and his family. Any donations to the Kidney Foundation in her honor would be appreciated.
A graveside service for Florence will be held Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 7800 Myrtle Avenue, Glendale, NY 11385.
