Gerald Alters died peacefully at home on June 16th 2017. He had an illustrious career in the music industry as an arranger composer and conductor. He was the musical director for the Arthur Godfrey radio show. He worked with Barry Manilow as his arranger. He won two gold and three platinum records for his achievements. He was awarded three Clios by the advertising industry for his work in commercials. He also wrote the scores for two made for TV movies. He was most proud for receiving his Bachelors degree Suma Cum Laude at the age of 70 from Hunter College. He is survived by his adoring wife Adele and his four children Leslie, Karen, John, Amanda. He will be remembered as a loving Papa to his eight grandchildren William, Sheridan, Kevin, Justin, Alexandr, Lawerence, Atticus, Gabriella. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to fund research for Alzheimer's disease to Caringkind.org.
