She was always there for us, making our home a beacon of security, happiness, comfort and peace. She was an accomplished pianist who bought an appreciation of music into our home. She passed her love of music down to the whole family, including her great granddaughter, Allison, with whom both derived a great deal of pleasure as they sat down together as my mother taught her how to play the piano; frequently playing songs together.
Hilda was also an avid reader of the “great” plays and novels, which she read throughout her life. These books were a source of great joy and comfort to her.
Our father, Nathan Sherman, predeceased my mother in 1991. She leaves behind two daughters, Karen Sherman and Benita Walfield who lovingly took care of her especially as she got older. She also leaves behind her granddaughter, Ilene Walfield with whom she shared a special relationship and Ilene’s daughter and great granddaughter, Allison, who provided a great deal happiness in her later years.
All of us will love and miss you forever. I'll miss your voice at the other end of the phone with our daily conversations with your common sense advice to me about taking care of myself. There’s nothing like a mother’s love. Our world will never be the same without the many laughs over the stories you shared with us, your words of wisdom and especially your sweet smile.
Forever in our hearts….goodbye Mom.
A graveside for Hilda will be held Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652.
