Gutted to learn of Jack's passing. He was a committed friend and vibrant source of comic relief in this chaotic world. Although we disagreed about many things, he was one of the few people I could still carry a conversation with in disagreement, as he maintained civility and respect—something greatly lacking in today's world. 

One thing I know that is truer than anything is that Jack loved his family. He was deeply committed to their well-being and often gushed about how proud he was of his daughters. He was proud of the life and marriage he had built with his wife, often sharing wisdom about what it takes for marriage to last. He adored both girls with an undying love only a parent could know, sharing stories of them growing up, often with tears in his eyes. Seth was clearly a beloved member of the family, and he never forgot the impact Katie the golden retriever made. 

Jack helped so many people, myself included. He was a complex man but at his heart, he was a great man who revered history and wanted to ensure it was never repeated. He put others before himself and went out of his way to serve his community. He absolutely loved being President at his Temple, and I am sure was a good one, as few people are unwilling to listen to different perspectives from their own the way he was. Giving in nature and kind in spirit, it is a true tragedy the world lost such a man. 

God I will miss your stories!!! May you rest in peace, Jack. And may your family feel solace in knowing how much you loved them and how much they mean to you. All of my condolences.

I met Jack when he came to Houston and he was doing computer business here. Jack was kind and generous and I will always remember him. We had a group meeting and we all went out to a restaurant and he paid for everything. May God continue to bless your family Jack and all your endeavors Patty Smith, Houston, Texas.

Jack and I were great friends 70 years ago. We played with his Lionel trains and flew paper airplanes thé whole length of his apartment (and sometimes a little beyond), testing our aeronautical engineering skills.  We had great laughs but our paths diverged and I moved out of the country so we had a 65 year gap in our communications. A few years ago we reconnected on FB, and shared some memories and current thoughts. I can’t believe that he is gone. A great guy, truly.

Jack was an extraordinary human being. One of the smartest and kindest men I have ever known. I will keep Jack and his family in my prayers during this difficult time.
