Jeffrey Paul Feinman grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from New York University before earning his MBA from the University of Rhode Island. While his father, Dr. Max Feinman, and his brother, Dr. Richard Feinman, pursued careers in medicine and academia, Jeff forged his own path in marketing.
He began his career as a marketing consultant at D.L. Blair Inc. and quickly became known as the “King of Sweepstakes” for his innovative ideas. By the age of 26, he was already a pioneer in marketing for startups and emerging businesses. Jeff went on to found his own marketing firm, Ventura Inc., first in California and later relocating it to New York City. At just 39, he sold the company and moved into the building of his dreams at UN Plaza. Though he could have retired before turning 40, his sharp mind and creative energy never allowed for a life of leisure. He continued his work as a private marketing consultant, establishing Feinman Management Inc.
Beyond his business ventures, Jeff was a prolific writer, publishing numerous books on sweepstakes strategies, gardening, dog care, and biographies of Hollywood actors and writers. His works for Scholastic Inc. were bestsellers at elementary school book fairs, outperforming many others. His generosity extended beyond his own success—he was deeply altruistic, funding a foundation for his brother’s research in nutrition and metabolism. Jeff also made substantial contributions to various charities.
Despite his professional achievements, Jeff’s greatest legacy was his devotion to his family. He was a loving son to his mother, Sylvia, who supported him as he built his own firm and his father, Max; a caring brother to Richard; a devoted husband; and a cherished stepfather and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his stepchildren, Kate and her husband Peter, and Jesse and his wife Kathy; and his beloved granddaughters, Ellie and Chloe. He was also dearly loved by his nieces, Robin, Jessica, and Mimi. Jeff’s friendships were lifelong—once you were his friend, you were in his life forever.
His warmth, kindness, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed. There was nothing Jeff wouldn’t do for the people he loved. Our hearts will miss him every day.
Forever in our hearts. We love you always, Jeffrey Feinman.
