Jerome Leo Klein
December 27, 1923 – May 6, 2021
Jerome Klein, age 97, passed away with his beloved daughter Barbara at his side on May 6, 2021. Jerry was born in a small village in Poland to Moses and Braina Klein. He came to the United States when he was 8 years old. He attended public school, where he learned to speak English. During World War II, he was in the Army Air Force. After the war, he married Jennie Dubner. He owned Central Metal Ceiling Company and did the installation of countless metal and Celotex acoustic tile ceilings in NYC for 35 years. He could hammer into ceiling beams and also jump from board to board on scaffolding from 4 feet to 20 foot heights. This made him so strong and resilient that at 97 he still had a very strong grip. He had a real estate business Bashstan owning several apartment buildings. Family was most important to Jerry. He was predeceased by 2 sisters and 2 brothers left in Poland and 4 sisters, 2 brothers that immigrated to the US He is survived by 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 10 great grandkids, and 1 more on the way. Jerry was an enthusiastic athlete and card player into his 90’s. He enjoyed Table Tennis, Bowling, Swimming, Tennis, Golf, and Pool. He played Rummy, Poker, Pinochle, Bridge, and Chess. He encouraged his children and grandchildren to join him in all these activities. He was predeceased by his wife, Jennie in 1990. However, he enjoyed the companionship and families of Harriet Berk, Myra Greenblatt, Florence Janus, and Sharon Russell.
A committal service for Jerome will be held Sunday, May 9, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Beth Moses Cemetery, 1500 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY 11704.
