José was born September 10, 1935, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Isaias and Luisa (Karasik) Revutin. José was a computing pioneer in Argentina. After a change in government brought an end to computer progress in Argentina, José began working in the United States. He relocated permanently with his family in 1978 and became a citizen in the 1980s. Over the span of his career, he worked for IBM, Swift, Mount Sinai, New York State, and New York City. José condemned wealth inequality and the marginalization of the powerless. He was a staunch believer in public service, justice for the working class, and the importance of unionization. He was a proud member of DC 37.
José is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alicia Maria Revutin of Forest Hills, NY. Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Charity Revutin of Culpeper, VA, and three grandchildren, Skyler, Eleanor, and Maxwell Revutin of Culpeper, VA.
In addition to his parents, José was predeceased by an infant brother, his sister Eugenia (Jenny) and his beloved dog Chiquita. His remains will be laid to rest in Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Glendale, NY. Services will be private.
