after fighting a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She
should not be remembered for how she died, but how she lived.
She always told the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear, and
you always knew where you stood with her. She was uncompromising
about her love for her family, her friends, and the way she wanted her food
prepared. She fiercely loved her grandchildren and was the ultimate
monopoly game property purchase consultant. She probably saw every
movie ever made, and enjoyed frequent girls’ trips to the casino.
Lee loved her work as a medical receptionist and was able to be a vital
support for countless patients and their families. She took pride in being
able to reassure them during their illness and treatment, and they sought
her out every time they came into the office. She loved her co-workers,
celebrating holiday parties and “always being fabulous”. She worked well
into her 80’s, making the commute from Flushing, Queens, into Manhattan
via bus and subway.
She is survived by her son Harris Bloom and his wife Josie Bloom,
Irvington, NY, her son Richard Bloom and his wife Sherry Bloom, West
Babylon, NY, her brother, Mel Abfier and his wife Fran, West Palm Beach,
FL, and her grandchildren Michael, Zadie, and Max.
Somewhere, she is with her beloved parents, winning all her Scratchies,
accompanied by an endless loop of her favorite Christmas music.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Westchester in her
memory.
