Leonard Schnitzer

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our father, Leonard Schnitzer, who left us on June 8, at the age of 87. Born in the Bronx, and a long time resident of Bayside, he was the beloved husband of Elaine (Abrams) Schnitzer for 34 years until her death, loving father to Stephen (and Jenny), April, and Alison (and Dave), and doting grandfather to Jack, Isabel and Samuel. Lenny proudly served in the New York Police Department, retiring as a sergeant in 1979 and his favorite post was as Mounted Officer in Central Park. Later career pursuits included locksmithing and running an Adirondack bed and breakfast with his wife. He loved to ride his motorcycle, visit Broadway theaters and NYC museums. In his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling around the country and throughout his life, Lenny liked nothing more than to read a good book.

A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 12:00 PM - 12:45PM at Schwartz Brothers-Jeffer Memorial Chapels located at 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375. Following will be a committal service from 1:30 PM - 2:15 PM at New Montefiore Cemetery located at 1180 Wellwood Ave, W. Babylon, NY 11704

Following the committal service, the family will be dining at Jimmy's Trattoria located at 45-73 Bell Blvd, Bayside, NY 11361
