I lit a candle today at St. Monica's on East 79 St. in Manhattan in your memory my dear friend Linda. The snow and lower temperatures this winter have been more like the first winter we met in 1973/74. The lake in Central Park frozen as our group huddled to keep warm by Bethesda Fountain but we were not going to miss hanging out no matter the weather! Today I remember you more but you are always close in my memories.

Dear Jack and Laura,
As you visit again today may you be filled with peace.  I have remembered Linda often to friends over the last year. Antonio and I have spoken of her energy, her curiosity.
Her desire to squeeze everything out of life. Her generous nature.
When shooting pool comes up in a conversation  I so enjoy bragging how Linda could run the table and do jump shots.   And in my memory Linda and I will forever be bowling on Friday night!

Linda was a lifelong friend and I’ll miss seeing  and talking to her again. So many memories! Linda and I met on our first day at Hunter College and were friends ever since. She and Barbara and Linda R.  and I had interesting times exploring  NY city and state in those days.  We all  felt at home at Linda’s place. She  was generous, warm hearted and a good cook who loved  good foods! Her tenacity, creativity and good attitude were inspiring.     She was always ready to travel. She made my trips with her vivid and  memorable  by her enthusiasm, particularly in France, London, Puerto Rico and the Midwest. Meeting  Jack  made her truly bloom; she found  her soulmate. Linda  was devoted  to her parents and elder relatives, and took care of them as they aged.. Her daughter  Laura was her best treasure,  in later years, my husband  Mark and I enjoyed  time with Linda and Jack  on a Chicago architecture tour and  getting together in Columbus and NY,  Linda and I got busy with different  lives  in different states, but  stayed in touch.    I  knew I  would always have  a good friend  in Linda and  she encouraged  me. I appreciate her more now  as I look back.  My deep sympathy to Jack and Laura.   May Linda’s  memory  be a blessing to those  who  knew her.   Love stays with us. Miss you, my friend.

Linda was my dear friend.
Since October 1973.
We met in the Central Park Mall just south of Bethesda Fountain, listening to the many talented folk singers lining the "Mall".  Many of we listeners became friends to this day. Linda and I became known as Linda West(side) and Linda East(side). We shared a joy of adventure. Linda West never let me down. She was
not interested in drinking at the bar but shooting pool there or bowling with friends on Friday night or taking me upstate to hike or swim in the mountain streams while visiting her parents. Just ask me for more stories.
After quite a few years of adventures Linda met Jack 
while out dancing. I happened to be there with her that night.  The romance began. I was even asked to sing at the wedding. Their life together began and we were on to different adventures. For some years we met in Manhattan or I visited their homes in Queens. Laura arrived to join their love in 1989. 
In 1994 I caused quite a stir when I told Linda and 2 other long time friends that I was pregnant. Not something I thought I would be BUT Antonio, my husband now, was very happy along with me, that our daughter Clara was to be added to our love. Then more adventure having daughters. Now our daughters are grown. Our husbands loving. But Linda and I cannot go on having adventures or just laughing on the phone about our adventures. 
Linda you will remain a huge part of my memory and the joy we have shared.
You were just who I needed in my life when I was a new arrival in NYC. God bless you Jack and Laura as you continue your adventures with her memories always at your side.

We remember Linda Lustig-Zaffos as a warm,caring individual.Linda was always interested in helping others.She was an avid fan of collectibles & she told stories about her loved ones who perished in the Holocaust.
