Born on July 13, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the devoted wife of the late Stuart Davidson with whom she shared a loving 61-year marriage, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend.
A gifted artist, Marilyn found joy in bringing beauty to the world through her paintings, miniatures, mannequins, needle work, and other creative projects. Yet, more than any piece of art, her greatest life work was her family. She lived her early adult life caring for her three children, and her later life taking tremendous pride in her three children and six grandchildren. Over the years, her and Stuart’s home was a gathering place, filled with warmth, laughter and love. When not at home, particularly in her younger years, Marilyn could often be found at the beach surrounded by family and friends — whether it was the shores of the Caribbean, Amagansett or closer to home in Nassau County. It is noteworthy that she did all this while managing serious illnesses (ulcerative colitis and Parkinson’s Disease), which she did with courage and grace.
Marilyn is survived by her children Laura (Wayne), Gene (Aileen) and Matthew (Nicola), and her beloved grandchildren Samantha, Stephen, Kyle, Jake, Zachary and Theo. She will be remembered for her caring, creativity and meaningful relationships with her family and wide circle of friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Sanai Chapels, 114-03 Queens Boulevard, Forest Hills, New York, followed by burial at Wellwood Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York. Family and friends are invited to then gather and share memories at Laura’s and Wayne’s home at 110 Freeport Avenue, Point Lookout, New York. A further shiva will be held via Zoom at 11:30am on Monday, September 22, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Marilyn’s memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
