Meyer Berkowitz, 101, passed away on March 17, 2023 (24 Adar, 5783). He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Mildred. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he lived with his family in Queens for many years. He proudly served his country in World War 2, in the US Navy. He was a mechanic for the New York City Transit Authority, and later for the New York City Police Department. Meyer is survived by his children, Anne (Marc) Neiwirth, Michael Berkowitz, Daniel Berkowitz, and one granddaughter, Amy Neiwirth (Robert Amos).
A funeral service for Meyer will be held Monday, March 20, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Sinai Chapels, 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM at Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Road, Elmont, NY 11003.
