The world has lost one of its most gifted, genius, one of a kind spirits. After graduating Hauppauge High School, Mikal went to Sullivan Community College—well, for a week or two at least. He had more exciting ideas, and was soon delving into acting, improv and directing indie theater, with a bit of music on the side, as drummer for New York ska icons Mephiskapheles. Realizing he needed money to pay rent and buy pizza, he jumped at the chance to parley his imaginative skills into copywriting, becoming a major new voice in the New York ad scene. He was soon channeling his irreverent, hilarious, breathtakingly honest take on the world, winning a ton of industry shiny awards along the way. There he met, fell in love, and tied the knot with his soul mate Ella. Later Mikal set up his own dynamic studio in Brooklyn and still had the energy to form a new band, Barbicide. His Magnus Opus though was surely raising his two beautiful daughters Violet and Olive, solo, after they heartbreakingly lost Ella, and infusing them with his never ending optimism (credit mom and dad Reich) and pure joy for living. A zillion people are going to miss you Mikal, from your closest family to everyone who entered your fantastical orbit. You are so loved.
