98, passed away peacefully on September 28 in Yonkers, New York. Born in Manchester, England, she grew up in the Bronx and attended Hunter College High School and Hunter College. Mona taught in NYC elementary schools for many years and took particular pride in the success of her African-American pupils; indeed, as a social activist, she fought for decades for a variety of liberal causes. Half-blind since a toddler, Mona never complained about her numerous ailments. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who gloried in the activities and achievements of her late husband Louis; her children, Ellen and Jonny; their spouses, Irving and Suzanne; and her grandchildren, David, Peter, Jinya and Koko.
