Neil Bernstein

Neil Edwin Bernstein was born March 23rd, 2023 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of Manny and Thela Bernstein. He had an older sister, Ellen, who with her husband Stan had one son, Jonathan. Neil was married to Merna for nearly 50 years. She passed in 2010. He is survived by his son, David and daughter, Mandi.

To service his community, Neil was a member of the Auxiliary Police through the 111th precinct for over 15 years. He was also a member of The Knights of Pythias Lodge in Queens, NY for over 50 years.

Neil worked on Wall Street for many years in the financial industry. Upon retirement Neil wanted to keep busy. He was Uber before Uber. He priced local car service rates and took friends and neighbors to doctors’ appointments and on errands for less cost. With his entrepreneurial spirit, he had business cards embossed and worked his own schedule.

A true Mets fan, Neil had the opportunity to see both Shea Stadium and CitiField. He loved his Mets, but always rooted for the NY teams in all sports. As an avid animal lover, he had no fear of dogs, and always made time to watch animal videos and look at animal pictures. As a child he had a dog named Pal.

He will be missed by those who loved him. Rest in peace.

A funeral service will be held for Neil on Friday May 12, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Sinai Chapels, 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375. Following the funeral service a committal service will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Wellwood Cemetery, 1400 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY 11704.
