Nina Tinter

Nina was the beloved wife of the late Boris Tinter and a devoted mother to Mickey and Bernard. Mother - in-law to Janet and Gertrude. She was a proud grandmother to Brent, Adam, Heidi, and Ashley, and blessed to be a great-grandmother of eight. At the age of 17, following the end of World War II, Nina met Boris, and the two were married within weeks. After 3 years, they were able to move to the United States, where they built a life together and shared a happy and loving marriage that lasted nearly 50 years.

Nina lived a long and remarkable life marked by both extraordinary hardship and remarkable resilience. As a teenager in Poland and Russia during World War II, she endured immense challenges. It is very difficult to write about the remarkable 97 years of Nina’s life in an obituary; to truly do her justice would require a biography. Still, we will do our best to honor the incredible journey she lived and the impact she had on so many. She experienced hardships and losses that few can imagine. Through her strength, determination, she went on to build a life filled with family, friendship, and love.

In her younger years, Nina traveled extensively with family and friends, forming connections with people from around the world. She spoke five languages and embraced every opportunity to learn about different cultures and experiences. A lifelong learner, Nina loved to read and continually expand her knowledge, maintaining a deep curiosity about the world throughout her life. She enjoyed holidays, family gatherings, and time spent with friends, creating cherished memories.

Nina will be remembered as a strong and resilient woman, her stories and lessons will remain an enduring part of her legacy.

She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her, but she will live on through their memories and forever be cherished for the time they shared with her. May her memory be a blessing and inspiration for generations of her family to come.

A Graveside Funeral will be held at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704, US, on June 3, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
