June 19, 1926 – October 28, 2021
Pearl Neier was born June 19, 1926 and died on October 28, 2021, more than 95 years later. She had been retired for many years from the Social Security Administration and was a mother to three, Lenore, Sharon, and Hal Neier. Pearl was force of nature, yet she didn’t recognize her own strengths, intelligence, or power. Pearl really came into her own when she moved to an independent living facility in Manhattan when she turned 80. At an age when many crave the status quo, she reinvented herself. A life-long introvert, she suddenly became one of the more popular residents. She was the first to speak out at community meetings about issues that concerned her, she made close friends with whom she had daily lunch and dinner. She became a joiner: bingo, current events, chair yoga and she even took up painting again, something that she enjoyed doing when she was a much younger woman. As these paintings reveal a whimsical side to her usually more serious demeanor.
