One of my favorite catchers when I umped little league. Marvelous competitor, great cop. Still miss his mother's matzo ball soup she'd bring to the field once a year.

I had the pleasure of working with Matt at the Consolidated Revenue Facility, NYC Transit Authority.   Matt always had an intelligent contribution to make, and I looked forward to our conservations together.   You'll be missed my friend.  You're always in my thoughts and my prayers.

Matt (Sobs) and I met in high school biology class and soon after became good friends. We played together on the varsity baseball team and bonded over practices and games. Matt was strong-minded, caring, and never backed down from any challenge, including overcoming cancer. I am deeply saddened by the loss of Matt and hopeful that he is at peace in heaven, where I am sure he is giving everyone a peace of his mind. My condolences to his mom, dad, family, and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Soblick - I am so very sorry for the loss of your Son, Matthew. We always got along great and always reminisced about the Yankees and family. He was a truly outstanding cousin to my wife and I and I will miss him dearly.  Keep those great memories alive from him as I’m sure you will!! He sure will be missed. I will keep your family in my prayers. 

My wife Nancy and myself attended a ceremony for the canine unit about four years ago and Matt was with us the whole time. When our son Darwin Cheung passed away about 10 years ago, Matt supported us spiritually and mentally. We will deeply miss him. May he Rest In Peace.

May Matthew's memory be a blessing to all who love and knew him.

I had only known Matt for a little over 5 years.  The camaraderie that we had built during that time was one that solid friendships are founded on.  Matt was a sincere, intelligent, and dedicated man, but with a good sense of humor.   Matt has had more than a lion’s share of obstacles.  Where anyone else would show indignation, Matt still kept looking for the positive possibilities.   His son, Derek, was a huge chunk of his heart.   I hope Derek will always know that his Daddy loved him more than life itself.  My wife and I were having dinner one night with Matt and Derek at Longhorn Steakhouse.  Derek was telling us all about his pressed pennies from Disney, Matt said to me again, as he had said on numerous occasions, I live for my son.   He would always tell his son, “I love you more!”  Matt had shared that his dad had always said that to him and he in turn would always say it to Derek.  When and if Derek has the good fortune of reading all the wonderful things about his father, I hope he understands that Matt believed that his son could achieve anything that he set his mind to and not only was he going to be Intelligent, but he was also going to be a kind and good person. Matt was an awesome person.  It sounds cliche' but Matt liked his job and truly loved his son more than anything.  What I really liked about Matt and remember most was his incredibly funny sarcastic humor. May he finally be at Peace and not suffering any longer.
