Dr Stanley Evans was not only a very successful eye doctor, he was also a teacher to his patients. When our son Yossi was in second grade, he came to the office every week. The doctor would ask him how he was doing in Yeshiva and how he was behaving at home.  That had nothing to do with his eyes he just had such a love for his patients, he was like a grandfather to them, and they felt the same towards him. The atmosphere in the office was so homey and warm. From the minute you walked in, Mrs. Evans greeted you with a big smile, asking  how your trip was and asking how the family was doing . Before we started taking Yossi to Dr. Evans we called him up and spoke to him about the problem. He understood what we were talking about and he said that its a hard trip from Brooklyn to Queens every week, and he suggested someone closer. He was only concerned about us. He wasn't worried about himself. My reaction was I want my son to be taken care of by a Doctor who cares about my traveling and does not care about his money and is willing to send away a new patient. It was amazing to see how he treated all the kids that came to him with the biggest smile, never getting nervous or upset he just went over the work again and again untill the kids got it correct. If a patient came and he felt that he could not handle the case for whatever reason, he would say wait for my daughter, Dr. Stein, she is better at this than me. He wasn't worried about his own pride. May  he be a malitz yosher for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. To Dr. Stein I just want to say the respect you gave your parents in the office was just something amazing to watch and we can all learn from you. May you be able to continue in you parents footsteps and have lots of nachas from your chidren and grandchildren. Hamkom ynachem eschem bsoch shaar aveli tzion vyerushalayim.
