Mr. William "Bill" Lee Martin Jr.

Bill Martin, age 78 of Forest Park, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010 surrounded by his loving family after a brief but courageous battle. Bill was an electrician employed with Clayton County for 10 years; was a member of IBEW #613 for 40 years and he proudly served our country as a United States Marine. Bill was Past Master of the Forest Park F&AM Lodge #399; Past Patron and Emeritus member of the Forest Park Chapter #290 Order of Eastern Star and lifetime member of the Past Patron Club of Georgia. He was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church in Morrow. Bill’s love for children and baseball lead him to coach little league and AABC in Forest Park for 18 years. He was an avid Braves fan. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, William Lee Martin, Sr. and Josephine Cheek Martin and his sister, Ida Pegram. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Martha Sue Martin; sons, Larry (Donna) Martin of Jackson, Richard (Sharon) Martin of Locust Grove; daughters, Deborah (Leonard) Robins of NC, Ellen (Guy) Lowe of McDonough, Melanie (Mark) Stone of Rock Hill, SC; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey (Robert) Ewing of NC and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services with Masonic rites will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Ward’s Parkway Chapel with Rev. Marti B. Slife and Pastor Dave Riley officiating. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery with Military rites. Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Journey Hospice, 138 Peach Drive, McDonough, GA 30253 or Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, 5320 Phillips Drive, Morrow, GA 30260. Bill Martin was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who took the time to make wonderful memories that will be forever treasured. He will be missed.
