John Robert Gress

February 8, 1947 – April 25, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Gress. John passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 79. His life was marked by dedication, passion, and a spirit of adventure that left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

John is survived by his wife Grace (Langelaan), his daughters Tracy Beebe (Keith), Terri Stock (Scott) and his stepsons Adam Runka (Natasha) and Andrew (Vanessa). John was the proud grandfather of JC Beebe, Grace and Noah Stock and Evelyn.

He will also be missed by his brother Jim (Iris), sister Cheryl Buggs (Ron), in-laws Marge Ott, Casey Langelaan (Leigh), Nancy Teal (Derrick), Jack Langelaan (Tami) and Dwayne Langelaan (Arlene) and their children.

John proudly served his country with honor as a United States Army Veteran, dedicating three years of his life to service in Korea from 1967 – 1970. When he returned to the States, John built a successful career across a variety of roles mostly in sales before going on to own his own business until his retirement.

John was an avid sports fan who loved golf and following the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills. He took great joy in sharing his passion for hockey with his grandson JC.

John will be remembered for his service, his love of sport, and the warmth he brought to those around him. His legacy will continue through the memories and stories shared by those who knew and loved him.

Benner Funeral Services have been entrusted with arrangements. Cremation has taken place. As per John's wishes, there will be no formal visitation. Friends are invited to join in a celebration of life to be held on May 5th, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Bridgewater Country Club, 700 Gilmore Road, Fort Erie, ON.
