I was born Sylvia Ann Green in Emo, Ont., on April 26, 1939 to Harold and Marie Green. I grew up in Fort Frances and graduated from Fort Frances High School.I married Ron Eggett. He and I had two children, John Guy and Jodi Marie. We moved to St. Paul and then to Sacramento, California then to Lake
Oswego, Oregon then to Vancouver. After 25 years Ron and I went our separate ways, I moved back to Fort Frances and lived with my mom, we had many great years together. I always said I would not have a 50-year anniversary that I preferred to have two 25th anniversaries. I married David Ostby and we have had many great years together.
I am sorry to leave David; my son, John (Debbie) Eggett; and my daughter, Jodi King (Larry Bent).
I have four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Jereme (Melissa) Eggett, Tyler Eggett (Lauron) of Vancouver, Carlee (Scott) Mixen and their son Colton in Florida. Grandson Staff Sargent Taylor Van den
Boogaard (Jamie).
I also was blessed with two great sisters, Doris Raun of Cloquet, Mn. and Maxine Plumridge of Fort Frances, now deceased. They gave me wonderful nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Will Carriveau of Little Fork; brother-in-law, Conrad Larson, Fort Frances; Karey Lyon-Good of International Falls; Mickey Ostby of Bemidji, Mn.; David’s children Jason, Denny and Denise and their children in Tennessee.
I was predeceased by my parents, Harold and Marie Green; brother-in-law, Maynard Raun and brother-in-law, Joe Plumridge; niece, Cheryl Jones; two nephews, Lyle and Greg Plumridge; great-nephew, Gabe Vogt; David’s daughter, Krissy; and brother-in-law, Jerry Good.
Life was fun and rewarding with happiness and some pitfalls but as the Garth Brooks song goes: “I might have missed the pain, but I would have had to miss the Dance.”
I feel I have been so blessed having a great husband, wonderful kids and a loving family and so many friends who have stood by me through thick and thin. Thank you to you all.
I have elected not to have a funeral or memorial, I had my 75th birthday for that!
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. for family and friends with Aux-Captain Arthur Heathcote of the Salvation Army Church officiating. Remember me with a smile and with kindness.
Thank you.
