

It is with great sadness that the family of Delores Cross, 84, of 337 McIrvine Rd., Fort Frances, Ontario announces her passing on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Delores was born December 31, 1927 in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Speidel. Delores grew up in Saskatchewan and as a teenager moved to Fort Frances to help support her family. In Fort Frances she took secretarial training and was offered a position at the local bank. On December 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to Herbert “Bert” Cross, and together they raised their three children. Delores did Clerical work for various places, including the Ministry of Natural Resources, McLeans Wholesale, and the bank. She also taught Sunday School for 25 years, serving God in her vocations at home, church , work and the community. Delores was a very dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 Ladies Auxiliary of which she served in various positions over the years. She was a member of the Womens Institute, LaVerendrye General Hospital Auxiliary, and assisted people in the community by helping with Meals On Wheels. Delores was a wonderful person and will be missed dearly by her family co-workers, and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert “Bert” Cross, and one sister, Lorraine Campbell.
Delores leaves behind to mourn her three children, Wayne (Diana) Cross of Murillo, ON.; Janice (Jeff) Alexander of Trail, B.C., and David Cross of Fort Frances, ON.; three grandchildren, Jacob, Isaac and Tabitha; two sisters, Emma (Ray) Yanke of Medicine Hat, AB., and Eleanor (Roy) Haas of Saskatoon, SK.; two brothers, Ivan (Joan) Speidel , and Vernon Speidel all of Winnipeg, MB.; four sisters-in-law, Doris Anderson of Southern Ontario, Florence (Edward) Lampi of Devlin, ON., Jeanette Cross of Rainy River, ON., and Lorena Jaman of Atikokan, ON.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Lutheran Hour with Reverend Jacob Quast officiating. Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, Ontario at a later date.
Honourary pallbearers will be members of her church, and members of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 Ladies Auxiliary.
