

July 30, 2011, at the age of 95. Edith was born June 29, 1916 to the late William and Mary Ossachuk.
On November 24, 1940, she was united in marriage to Stan Dolyny and together they
raised their three children. Stan predeceased Edith on January 30, 1996.
Edith was very involved in the community and her parish. She was a member of St.George’s Orthodox Church and an active participant in the church choir. Also a
charter member of St. Anna’s organization (U.W.A.C.) and a member of the Ukrainian
Literary Society Hall. Throughout her life, Edith loved the music and dance of her Ukrainian heritage. Edith and Stan ‘cut a mean rug’ and enjoyed the lasting friendships in other dance groups.
An avid gardener and member of the Horticultural Society, her prized ‘Stargazer Lilies’ won many ‘first in show’ awards. Edith spent countless hours nurturing her diverse collection of plants and flowers. Also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, she volunteered her time for many years.
Both Stan and Edith were instrumental in the restoration of the CN Station; presently known as the Volunteer Bureau. Her creative abilities were numerous at home as well.
Famous for her cooking and baking, Edith never went a day without preparing elaborate meals for her family. Endless hours were spent designing and sewing everything from bedspreads and dresses to table linens. She was a caring and talented individual with a passion for family and friends. Edith loved life, and embraced it with a personality of leadership and kindness. She will be greatly missed.
Edith leaves behind her three children; Roger Dolyny, Livia & husband Steve Lundon of Fort Frances, On., Jane & husband Paul Overholt of Calgary, AB; Grandchildren Paul & wife Charmaine Dolyny, Rustyn & wife Tiffany Dolyny, Tanya Dolyny, Stacy & husband Derek Whalen, Johnny Lundon, Natalie & husband Dan DeGagne, Carson & Haley Overholt, Great Grandchildren, Chloe, Payton, Brett & Ava Dolyny.
She was predeceased by brothers, John & Joey Ossachuk, sisters Lena Duchnicki, & brother-in-law Mike Kowalchuk. Edith is also survived by her sister Sadie Kowalchuk & brother-in-law John Duchnicki & sister-in-law Bertha Ossachuk.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Greens Funeral Home from 7:00-8:30 with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the St. George’ Orthodox Church, Thursday August 4, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Father Gene Maximiuk will officiate followed by interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Pallbearers will be Paul Dolyny, Rustyn Dolyny, Johnny Lundon, Dan DeGagne, Mark Kowalchuk & Jeff Rajala.
