Mushkowegahbow (Standing Strong)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ethan Alexander Christian Morrisseau of Couchiching First Nation. Ethan was born on November 16, 2010 and passed away on February 28, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfather Harry Morrisseau Sr.; maternal great-grandfather Buddy Friday; great-aunts Alfreda Kearney, and Phyllis Morrisseau; and by his cousins Sapphire Morrisseau-Bruyere; Richard Morrisseau Jr., Kayden Friday, and Ben Klyne.
During his brief visit on earth, he enjoyed listening to music, cuddling, and being held close by his mommy and daddy and his auntie Joy. He will be loved by all who met him, and will be greatly missed.
Ethan is survived by his parents Kenneth Morrisseau and Elda Ruby; and his brothers Kenneth Jordan and Achilles Taylor, all of Couchiching First Nation. His paternal grandparents Elaine Morrisseau (Bob Law) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Paul Roberts of Roseau River, Manitoba; His maternal grandparents Valerie Friday and Wayne Ruby Sr. of Winnipeg, Manitoba; paternal great-grandmother Louise Morrisseau, of Couchiching First Nation; materal great-grandmother Jessica Friday of Seine River First Nation; aunts Kelly Morrisseau, and Pamela Ross (Darryl) of Couchiching First Nation; Jennifer Friday of Seine River First Nation, and Brenda Friday, of Thunder Bay; along with uncles Bradford Morrisseau of Fort Frances, and Wayne Ruby Jr., of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Pallbearers will be Bradford Morrisseau, Evan Morrisseau, Wayne Ruby Jr., and Erwin Bruyere; and the honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Morrisseau, Pamela Ross, Jennifer Friday, and Jenn Morrisseau.
A traditional visitation took place on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. A traditional ceremony took place on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with elder Gilbert Smith officiating. Interment took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
