

1926-2016
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Florence Louise Hill, announces her passing with family by her side on Monday, January 11, 2016 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, ON. Florence was born April 14, 1926 in Fort Frances to George Valentine and Isabel Jane Calder. She was married to Fredrick Hill on May 29, 1946. Florence was very active in the community, volunteering her time for many organizations. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Life Member of the Rainycrest Auxiliary, and a very active member at St. John’s Anglican Church. She and her sister Jane McLeod were named co-citizens of the year in 2013. She enjoyed bowling with her team every Tuesday afternoon and could be seen regularly during her morning walks.
Florence will be lovingly remembered by her children- Leonard (Linda) Hill of Fort Frances, Gwendolyn (Blake) Beange of Nipigon, ON, Lester (Jo-Anne) Hill of Fort Frances, and Darrell (Linda) Hill of Winnipeg, MB.
She will also be missed by her grandchildren- Jodi Beange (Garry Noga), Kevin (Krista) Beange, Christopher (Alexis) Hill, Derek Hill, Ryan Hill, Bradley (Nicole) Hill, Julie (Shaun) Asselin, Lindsey (Michael) Edwards; step-grandchild Vanessa Doiron (Tony Dissette).
Also surviving are her great grandchildren- Brett and Kassidy Almgren, Kolton and Kaelan Beange, Gavin and Tatum Hill, Hayden Hill, Duncan, Griffin and Kendall Hill, Olivia and Quinnton Asselin, and Ashton, Alyssa and Owen Edwards; step great grandchildren Jacob and Abbey Doiron, and Dylan and Calie Dissette.
Florence also leaves to mourn her brother Gordon (Charlotte) Calder of Fort Frances, her sister Phyllis Shine of Chilliwack, BC, and brother-in-law Jim McLeod of Fort Frances, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Florence was predeceased by her husband Fredrick Hill, parents George Valentine and Isabel Jane Calder, siblings- Violet Cameron, Jane McLeod, Melvina Doupe, Mildred Coulombe, Margie Williams, George Calder, and Gary Calder.
A celebration of her life will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2 pm. The Reverend MJ D. Leewis-Kirk will officiate. Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date. Honourary pallbearers will be Brett Almgren, Shaun Asselin, Kevin Beange, Michael Edwards, Christopher Hill, Bradley Hill, Ryan Hill and Garry Noga.
