It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorne “Glen” Bergner peacefully on Thursday April 17, 2014 in his 71st year with his family by his side at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario. Glen was born September 3. 1941 in Eriksdale, Manitoba to Walter and Louise Bergner and spent his formative years in the Ashern and Camper areas of Manitoba.
Glen was a passionate, strong willed man whose passions were many. Tending to his garden and providing fresh vegetables it seemed to anyone and everyone, tinkering on his computers and working endlessly on the Bergner family tree and genealogy, spending time in his garage playing with his many toys and most importantly spending time with his numerous grandchildren.
Glen also trapped for many years taking great pride of his trap line and spoke of that time fondly. Glen’s work ethic was second to none and was clear in any choice he made throughout his life evidenced by his long career as a forester for Ontario Hydro from which he retired.
Glen is left to mourn by his daughters Debbie Paul (Billy) of North Bay, Ontario, Dana-Rae Scott (Adam) of Fort Frances, Ontario and Taunia Klem (Guy) of Fort Frances, Ontario. Also surviving is brother Lloyd (Cindy) Bergner of Dacotah, Manitoba. “Pappy” will always be remembered by grandchildren Brett, Griffin, Cadence, Ivy, Maverick, Levi and Wyatt Paul of North Bay, Ontario, Declan Scott of Fort Frances, Ontario and Elizabeth and Darian Klem of Fort Frances and nephews Floyd and Robert Bergner of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Glen will also be fondly remembered by numerous relatives and friends whose lives he has touched over his years.
In keeping with Glen’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. A family gathering will be held at a later date to commemorate his life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Online condolences may be made in care of www.greenfuneralhomefortfrances.com.
