

Jack was born and raised in Fort Frances and completed his schooling in Fort Frances before attending the University of Toronto where he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy. Jack and his wife Joan returned to Fort Frances to take over his father’s drugstore upon his death.
Jack was active in the community. He served on the Board of Education. He was also chairman of the Board of LaVerendrye General Hospital for many years. Jack was an active hunter and fisherman and enjoyed many years at his cabin in Swell Bay. Jack and Joan wintered in Florida for many years until Joan’s health deteriorated and sadly she passed away in 2011.
Jack has made his home in Rainycrest Home of The Aged for the past two years.
He is survived by his sister Margaret Schneider, her daughter Malinda Gould and husband Jonathon and grand-niece Meridith. He is also survived by his daughter Margaret Hurst, husband Dan and family from Duncan B.C.
Jack was predeceased by his parents Edith and Walter Gagne.
A service of remembrance will be held at Rainycrest Home of The Aged in Fort Frances, Ontario on Friday June 27, 2014 at 1:30 p.m with Father Victor DeGagne officiating. Jack will be buried in the Gagne family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Frances, Ontario.
