Ray was born August 30, 1925 in Whitewood, SK to Bill and Jessie Dayman.
His early years working the family farm gave him the tools to accomplish anything he set his mind to do. After moving east to Ontario with his wife, Ruth, he worked with Bell Telephone, managed the T. Eaton Co. store in Atikokan, owned and operated Ray’s Texaco, built a car wash and operated a small construction company until his retirement.
He was an actively involved in the Atikokan Curling Club, the Kiwanis and the Atikokan Sno Ho Club. He loved to run equipment and almost always drove his snowmachine too fast. He and Ruth loved to dance and taught all their daughters to two-step - before the two-step was cool.
Life in Northwestern Ontario meant having a cabin and he and Ruth enjoyed many years on Turtle Lake. Friends and family shared many a barbecue on their pontoon boat.
Ray is survived by his wife, Ruth, his brother Lorne and three daughters, Deborah Coulson (Marty), Cathern Dayman and Pamela Everett (Jay), eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Patricia Guillet and his sister Connie Manson.
At his request, a family graveside service will be held at a later date.
