

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Father,Grandfather and Great grandfather on June 16th, 2014 at La Verendrye Hospital. Dad was born on February 3, 1926 in Brightsand Sk to his parents Fred and Carrie Gunderson. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth Edith in 1999; his son Edward Roald 1997 and his son Rodney Steven 2011. James will be lovingly remembered by his four daughters, Janice White of Brampton, Ont., Jo-Anne and husband, Brent Treftlin, of Vancouver, B.C., Debra and husband, Greg Wilson, of Dryden, Ont., and Beth Gunderson of Vancouver, B.C.; ten grandchildren, Shawn McCaig,Tracy White, Julie Loveday, Chrissy White; Tyler and Sarah Treftlin; and Carrie, Eamon, Reid, and Sheila Wilson; and thirteen great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Joyce Perry of Rhode Island, NY. Also, numerous nieces and nephews. James met the love of his life, Ruth Edith Redford in Emo, Ontario. They enjoyed many years together and he missed his “Ruthie” very much after her passing. He enjoyed gardening, traveling to BC & Florida, walking, going for drives in the county, and spending time with the family. The majority of his life was spent in Crozier. James enjoyed telling stories about family history. His quick wit and sense of humour was a highlight of every gathering. He was an intelligent man with a broad scope of knowledge, enjoying reading and took interest in all genre of books, particularly nonfiction. James was employed by the Fort Frances paper mill until his
retirement 1990. James was a kind and patient man, meeting life’s challenges with acceptance and determination. In his later years, James accepted aging with dignity and grace. James was surrounded by his family, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren when he passed. As a father and grandfather he was a role model to his children and we all miss him greatly. Funeral services will be held Friday June 20, 2014 at 11a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. His grandson, Eamon Wilson will officiate, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances. Active pallbearers with be Greg & Reid Wilson, Al and Noah Loveday, Brent Treftlin and Doug Wright. Honourary pallbearers will be the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
