

Born on July 14, 1934 to Norman and Marjorie McQuarrie, Jim was raised in Fort Frances with his younger brothers Neil and Bob. Upon completion of his secondary education, he attended the University of Toronto where he received his degree in electrical engineering in 1957. Jim returned to Fort Frances, joining the local paper mill, and marrying his beloved wife, Marlene. Working between the mills in Fort Frances and Kenora, James finished his career in the company's corporate offices on Bay Street in Toronto in 1995. Following retirement, he and Marlene relocated to Fort Frances to be closer to home and to the cabin on Hopkin’s Bay, which was a much-loved retreat for them both.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Marlene; children, Gordon McQuarrie (Evelyn), Janet Williams (Kevin) and David McQuarrie (Kellie); grandchildren, Joanna McQuarrie (Travis), Samantha McQuarrie, Alex McQuarrie (Laura), Meaghan Williams (Rafey), Sarah Williams (Taylor), Tyrick McQuarrie, Jessica Davis (Kyle), Amanda Barton (Jesse), Allysha Keech (Victor); great-grandchildren, Ryland, Khloe, Paisley, Signy, Daniyal,, Waylon, Samuel, Aliya, William, Kathryn, and Tyson; brothers, Neil McQuarrie and Bob McQuarrie (Janice); sisters-in-law, Marianne Williamson (Alan) and Nan Ervick, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Jim's passing will be recognized in a family ceremony at a future date.
