

It is with great sadness that, with family by her side, we announce the passing of Janice Elaine Perreault of Couchiching First Nation on May 3, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with cancer and complications due to COPD and pneumonia.
She was a tough, strong fighter, the glue to our family, the one we all went to when we needed answers. She was loved by all who knew her.
Janice was born on October 20, 1951 to Stanley and Yvonne Walton in Fort Frances. She resided in the area where she met the love of her life Merle Perreault. The two were united in marriage on October 25, 1969. Together they raised 4 children. She was the beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother an d aunt whom we all loved so dearly.
She loved to stay busy. She attended RRCC in International Falls where she graduated with her secretarial certificate; did online courses for early childhood education and worked at many local businesses. She enjoyed all the family get together with both sides of the family. She enjoyed going to Bingo with her son and many friends, loved to travel to the casino and anywhere the car would take them. When she was home you could always find her in her chair watching her game shows!
Janice was predeceased by her husband Merle; son Dennis; mother Yvonne; father Stanley; brother Jay; sister Shelley; mother and father –in-law James Sr. and Janet Perreault; brother and sister-in-laws James Jr., Jean and Joyce.
Janice is survived by her children Derek (Andrea) Perreault of Fort Frances, Denise (Darren) Bragg of Stratton and Brett Perreault of Couchiching; 5 grandchildren Samantha (James) Thomas, Corburn Bragg (Allison), Hailey and Payton Bragg and Jayden Perreault; 2 great grandchildren Blaire Thomas and Sophia Bragg; 2 brothers Jim Walton and John Walton both of Fort Frances; 6 sisters Judy (Leonard) Pietila of Ear Falls, ON, Julie (Brian) Fromm of Cambridge, ON, Joanne (Jeff) Scott of Terrance, BC, Laurie (Dennis) Marcil of Fort Frances, Sheila Durbin (Vernon) of Fort Frances and Susan (Glen) Katona of Fort Frances; sisters-in-law Jocelyn Johnson of Couchiching First Nation and Janice Carmody of St. Paul, MN along with numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews whom she also loved dearly. She will be greatly missed by many special friends and family.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, ON with Father Alan Albao officiating.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be held in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
The honourary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
If friends so desire in memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Riverside Health Care Foundation – Dialysis Unit.
