OBITUARY

Jean McEwan Boileau

October 8, 1921January 4, 2011

Jean was born to William and Doris McEwan in Sleaford, England on October 8, 1921 and as a young woman served during WWII with WAAF, the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. Mom first met Lin Boileau, the love of her life, while he was stationed in England. They married in 1942 and Mom joined him in Canada in 1947. They were happily married for 65 years. Together, they raised nine children with tenderness and devotion. Mom was a very loving and passionate wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. We loved and greatly respected her for instilling strong values for family and community. She was extremely involved in numerous organizations, clubs and committees. Her passion for drama, literature and the arts was lifelong. She was a founding member of the Fort Frances Little Theatre and was instrumental in the creation of the Friends of the Library. The Canadian Cancer Society had her unwavering support and commitment for over 15 years. Mom’s proudest and most honoured accomplishment was to be named, with Dad, as Citizen of the Year in 2002, that being Fort Frances’ Centennial year. Mom will be joining Dad, their sons Michael and Louis, their infant daughter Jocelyn and grandson Bradley Zucchiatti. Left to forever treasure her memory are Anne and Alan Zucchiatti, Giselle and Bryan Calder, Dorese and Roger Harrison, Paul and Heather Boileau, Michelle and Tom Reid, Andrea and Jim Avis, also daughters-in-law Tammy Boileau and Marjory Boileau. Mom was always proud to say she had many, many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving in England are Mom’s brothers, Don and Keith McEwan and sister Audrey Challis. Over her life, Mom gathered a huge and loving circle of friends. With her ‘Sisters’ of The Overseas Wives Club, Mom shared a family-like bond that sustained her in times of joy and sorrow. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Frances. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will follow at a later date. At Mom’s request, in memoriam donations can be made to the Friends of the Fort Frances Public Library or to the Community Chest. Online condolences may be offered at www.greenfuneralhomefortfrances.com Mom, we will miss you and you will be in our hearts forever

DEAR BOILEAU FAMILY: I AM GREATLY SADDENED BY THE LOSS OF YOUR DEAR MOM. WHEN I THINK OF JEAN I THINK OF LAUGHTER. MANY YEARS AGO WE WERE PREPARING A SKIT IN A CHURCH BASEMENT, WE WERE HARDLY ABLE TO CONTINUE THE ACT WE LAUGHED SO MUCH. JEAN CONTRIBUTED SO MUCH TO FORT FRANCES, YOU MUST BE SO PROUD OF HER. SHE WAS THE IDEAL IMMIGRANT WITH ALL SHE DID TO ENRICH THE LIVES OF THOSE IN HER ADOPTED COUNTRY. DEEPEST SYMPATHY, MARY CATHCART
