

He was born, Jean Marie Audette, on October 4, 1928 to Joseph and Delima Audette on the family homestead near St. Pierre, Manitoba. The family relocated several times before coming to Fort Frances in 1940. He had a lifelong career with the CN Railway before taking an early retirement. He was united in marriage to Lucille Penney on September 4, 1954 and they raised 4 children. John used to be a hunter and woodworking hobbyist but he became an avid curler and enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Royal Canadian Legion Br.29. His heart, however, always belonged at the cabin; reading western novels and watching hockey.
John was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Delima; wife Lucille; siblings Alma Haver, Bernard Audette and Andre Audette.
He leaves behind his children Lynda (Nils) Wikner, Cindy Gauthier, Janice (Joe) Berger and Christopher (Diana -fiance) Audette; grandchildren Amanda Berry, Christopher and Nicole Gauthier, pet Wolfgang Berger; great granddaughter Ava Berry; siblings Marie DeGagne , Steve Audette, Juliette Smits and Helene Nault.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home with Father Michel Joseph Jean Nault officiating.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances, ON.
Honourary pallbearers include: Norman Wood, Ed Kivimaki, John Anderson, Jim Wright, Lyle Fleming, Greg Penney and Christopher Gauthier.
