Arnold was born on January 18,1927 in Claireville, New Brunswick to Rankin and Lena Brown.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life Elizabeth “Betty” Armstrong, on June 19, 1959
and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year shortly before her passing. After
their marriage Arnold and Betty lived in Warroad, MN before settling in Emo for a short time,
they left Emo, settling into their life long home in Fort Frances. Arnold worked as a telegraph
operator at CN Rail and retired August 31st, 1988.
Arnold was very active in the community and a volunteer with the LVGH auxiliary. He was a
longstanding member of The Elks Lodge and a dedicated member of the Knox United Church.
Arnold will be sadly missed by his; brothers Ralph (Mavis), Vaughan (Donna) and Alfred of New
Brunswick, Warren (Eleanor) and Wallace (Karen) of Nova Scotia, Melbourne (Peggy) of BC;
sister-in-law Margaret (Rick) Ganyo of Eagan, MN; brother-in-law Reg Kaus of Rainy River,
many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and his
neighbours.
He was predeceased by his wife Betty on July 6, 2019; parents Rankin and Lena Brown; in-laws
Vic and Liz Armstrong; sister Althea Filmore and brothers Hugh and Allison Brown;
brother-in-law Bob Armstrong and wife Wilma; sister-in-law Doreen Kaus.
A private family graveside service will be held and public memorial service will be on Friday September 24, 2021 at 1:30pm at Knox United Church in Fort Frances, Ontario.
