

It is with great sadness that the family of Lawrence Oshawee announces his passing on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital.
Lawrence was born on November 21, 1950 in Fort Frances, Ontario to Gilbert and Ida Oshawee. He was raised in Lac La Croix First Nation and loved his life there. He enjoyed being outdoors; fishing, trapping and guiding. He loved the years he spent at Zup’s and the many friends he made over the years. Lawrence loved to laugh and would joke, tease and have fun with everyone. He loved his family and grandchildren, they were everything to him.
Lawrence leaves behind daughter Shelly Kabatay and her mother Linda Oshawee; sons Shawn (Brenda) Ottertail, Gregory Ottertail and Jake Ottertail and their mother Dora Ottertail; grandchildren Rachel, Angelle, Chelsea, Mason, Cassidy, Maddi, Lacey and Erica; great grandchildren Gavin, Kaida and Kingston; siblings Elizabeth Oshawee, Roseann Oshawee, Margaret Bluebird, Eugene Oshawee and Howard Whitecrow.
He was predeceased by his parents; siblings Marilyn Oshawee, Albert Morrison Sr., Clarence Oshawee, and Angus Oshawee Sr. and best friend Fred Ottertail.
A traditional wake will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Lawrence’s home in Lac La Croix First Nation. A traditional funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 with Elder Ken Kakeeway officiating. Interment will take place in Lac La Croix First Nation.
The active pallbearers will be Lawrence’s family and friends.
The honourary pallbearers will be Howard Whitecrow, Dennis Morrison Sr., Jeremy Potson, Bob Potson, Lance Kabatay, Roger Morrison, Pernell Ottertail Sr., Dennis Morrison Jr.. Carol Geyshick and Gary Whitefish.
