Leona Dorrene Gosselin

Mom passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the LaVerendrye Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Born November 2, 1932 to the late Thomas and Esther (Fults) Bowman in Devlin.

She was predeceased by her parents; sisters Beatrice Sutton and Blanche Ogden; brothers Robert and Wes Bowman; husband Ned Gosselin and great granddaughter Alexa Lee Basaraba.

Leona is survived by her son Les (Harriet) Gosselin and daughter Carla (Kim) Basaraba. She is also survived by her grandchildren Becky (Todd) Soderholm, Tracy (Ed) Landriault, Mike (Marinelle) Gosselin and Scott Basaraba (Naomi Danco); 9 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Isabelle Bowman and several nieces and nephews.

Mom was very proud of her family roots especially the pioneer settlers of the “Fults” family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world. Her door was always open and of course the coffee was always on. Mom had a good sense of humour and was very quick-witted. She had many wonderful friends and longtime neighbours over her 80 years. Many people knew Mom from her years of working as a bookkeeper for Witherspoon’s and Pacific 66. She enjoyed curling many years ago and continued to watch it on television.

Mom was a strong woman and taught us all valuable life lessons. She was very happy to still be living in her own “little shack” on Webster Avenue. One of Mom’s latest fun memories she had was going for a ride in a red Mustang convertible – she appreciated nice cars; especially red ones.

Mom we will truly miss you but our memories of the good times and your laughter will keep us going. You were an institution in our family and we are going to miss the security of knowing you are here.

A visitation will be held at Green Funeral Home on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 7 until 8:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Green Funeral Home on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 10 a.m. Pastor David Groff will officiate with interment in the Riverview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Gosselin, Scott and Kim Basaraba, Terry Ogden, Larry Kellar and Peter VanDrunen.
