Mary Catherine Andrusco

August 22, 1921October 15, 2011

Mary Andrusco The family of Mary Andrusco announces her peaceful passing on Saturday evening, October 15, 2011. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years Nick (2009) and her precious daughter Nikki (2010). Left to cherish her memory are her children Peter (Michelle) of Dryden, ON; Ruth (David) Tupper of Owen Sound, ON; Marina (Cameron) Gray of Winnipeg and her son-in-law Martin (Nikki) O’Connor. She will be sorely missed by her 6 grandchildren Daniel O’Connor, Michael (Agicszka) and John Andrusco, Andrew Tupper, Nicholas and Elizabeth Gray. Mom was elated and over-joyed to be able to meet her first great grand-daughter Hanna Mary Andrusco. Mary was born August 22, 1921 in Neepawa, Manitoba to George and Catherine Pidlubny. She was predeceased by her parents and four brothers: Michael, Gordon, Walter and William. Mom was known for her kindness and generosity towards others. She was very humble and never wanted attention drawn to herself. However, she was very proud of “the 8-ender” she achieved with her curling team in 1964. Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing bridge – having played her last game just 2 weeks ago with her friends Del, Evie and Edith. We have many wonderful memories of summers spent “up the lake” where mom’s warm hospitality made family and friends feel welcome. But later in life, spending winters in Florida was where her heart truly was and where she and dad were very active in the Ukrainian community for over 30 years. Mom was very devoted to her Ukrainian heritage and, as her children, were well immersed in our Ukrainian Orthodox faith and traditions. She was an incredible mother whose love for us was unconditional. We knew that her disease was taking its toll on the quality of her life and we feel blessed that she was able to celebrate her 90th birthday in August. Rest in peace our darling mother-we will love you forever. “A life well lived leaves its gentle pattern on the hearts of all…. and the world is a lovelier place because one person touched it with warmth and goodness and grace” Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Funeral Home with Father Wayne McIntosh officiating. Interment will take place in Fort Frances Cemetery in Fort Frances, Ontario. The pallbearers will be Mary’s grandchildren. If friends so desire in memoriam donations may be made to the Cancer Care Clinic in Fort Frances c/o Green Funeral Home, 600 Reid Avenue, Box 427, Fort Frances, Ontario, P9A 3M8. I have many fond memories of Mary as she and Nick were often about during family visits from England to Nikki and Martin and Daniel. I also have the amazing memory of visiting Mary and Nick with my father Patrick O'Connor for an Orthodox Easter in Florida.
Mary had that joyful spirit which makes it so easy to relate to a person! She was able to set aside worldly cares and give time to people to share their thoughts with her. Her loved ones in Heaven will be waiting for her. So much love to all the families especially to the younger generation who will miss out on a longer time with her .. I know she will be rooting for them also! Trissa

Our dear Ruthie and David
We so wish we could be with you on Friday as you celebrate the life of your mother and share the memories of her with your family and friends. Although we did not ever get to meet your Baba in person, through your stories and recollections, I feel like I knew how special a person she was. No wonder, Ruth, that you are so special yourself. We will take time on Friday to keep all of you in our hearts as we wish you a peaceful day and we look forward to your return to Owen Sound. With love, Teresa, Barry, Jocelyn, Jamison, Dustin, Braden and Molly. xoxo
