Natalie "Nat" Dawn Dal

April 13, 1988 – August 14, 2020
Obituary of Natalie "Nat" Dawn Dal

On Friday, August 14, 2020 Natalie Dawn Dal (Nat) passed away peacefully at home in Fort Frances, Ontario. Natalie was born in 1988 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was the first child of Ron and Bonnie Dreger of Morris, Manitoba, and older sister of Travis and Tashia. She went to K-12 in Morris, Manitoba and participated and excelled in every sport under the sun. Her creativity and artistic nature were also evident from an early age. She met the love of her life at the age of 14, Chris Wall from Lowe Farm, Manitoba.

They were married in 2006 at Pine Ridge Hollow in Manitoba. They lived in Winnipeg and Morris in the first couple of years of their marriage, and in April of 2009 their first child, Zeila Skye was born. Natalie took hairdresser training and worked at Edward Carriere Salon in Winnipeg. In late 2010 they moved to Prince Rupert. BC and Maverick River was born in February of 2011. Natalie loved living in Prince Rupert and embraced all the hiking, kayaking and outdoor living that she could while they were there. She worked briefly as a longshoreman with the logging industry and reveled in proving to the older men on the job that she could pull her weight. In early 2013 they moved to Fort Frances, Ontario. Initially this was going to be a temporary move – Natalie had her sights set on settling back in BC in the Osoyoos area. However, they were pleasantly surprised with Fort Frances and all it had to offer in terms of amenities for the kids and outdoor living for their family, and soon plans changed to staying there indefinitely. Natalie got involved in the community with things like lobbying for French-Immersion in the schools, on the board for Kids & Company, being Mrs. Clause in the Christmas parade, etc. They enrolled the kids in music and sports activities, and purchased a cabin just 45 minutes out of town for their family to enjoy. Natalie added Chewy and Yeti (Their Pomeranians) to their lives and they were well-loved members of the family. In the past 2+ years they had opened their home to foster children, sharing their loving home with kids who desperately needed it. At the time of Natalie’s passing, they were a family of 7. Natalie made sure all five kids were getting the education they needed during Covid but also making sure they had joy in their lives. Bonfires, picnics, dance parties, swimming, fishing, toad-catching – this little family had made the most of their Covid isolation and were a happy little bunch.

Natalie is survived by her loving husband Chris Wall, her children Zeila (11) and Maverick (9) all of Fort Frances, her parents Ron and Bonnie Dreger of Morris, her grandmother Edna Dreger of Morris, MB, her sister Tashia Lynn Dreger (Andrew Sheldon) of Winnipeg, MB, her brother Travis Alexander Dreger (Karine Dreger), and nephew Everett Ray Dreger of St. Agathe, MB. Also her mother and father-in-law, Ray and Denise Wall of Lowe Farm, MB, and brother-in-law Derek (Richelle) of St. Agathe, MB, sister-in-law Tamara Houle (Rob) and her niece and nephew, Olivia and Ben of Morris, MB. She also leaves to mourn a large number of cousins, Aunts and Uncles, extended family and friends.

Natalie was predeceased by her cousin Rheal Berard in August of 2009.

Private Celebrations of Life will be held in Fort Frances, ON on Wednesday, Aug. 26 and in Morris, MB on Saturday, August 29th.

Donations can be made to the Go Fund Me Page in Memory of Natalie and the family will choose charities to “gift” in Natalie’s honor in future.
