SAINTA BERRY

Sainta Berry, 95, of Rainycrest Long Term Care Facility, Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. She was born Sainta Bolzan on November 1, 1916 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Oswald and Eliza Bolzan. She grew up in Fort Frances and attended St. Mary’s School.

Sainta was courted by and then married her sweetheart Ronald Berry on February 15, 1936 and they enjoyed 63 wonderful years together, 50 of them at their summer home on Rainy Lake, where she loved to cook for large family gatherings, garden, fish and play cards.

Sainta worked at various jobs but her favorite job was wherever she could interact with customers and friends. Gardening was her hobby but cooking was her favorite pastime and she won several awards for her baking. She loved playing cards at the Sister Kennedy Centre and always brought baked treats for everyone to enjoy. Though she gave away her recipes she must have left items out because they never tasted the same as when she made it.

She is survived by her son Edward(Ted)Berry of Fort Frances, Ont. and daughter Sheila and husband Howard Fanjoy of Espanola, Ont.; grandchildren, Brian, Lisa, Greg, Julie, David, Susan, Douglas, and Tricia; great grandchildren, T.J., Meagan, Jillian, Celia, Ryan, Katelyn, Jacksen, and Lucas; sisters-in-law Joyce Toninato and Rose May Bolzan, brother-in-law Walter Christiansen, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her parents Oswald and Eliza Bolzan, step-father Giovanni Toninato, husband Ronald, daughter-in-law Barbara, great granddaughter Michele, brothers Jim, Tony, Joe, Willy, Raymond, Mario and Patrick, and sisters Elvira, Ada, Nettie, Maria and Patrice. Sainta was the last of the Bolzan and Toninato siblings.

There will be no service at this time. Cremation has taken place and a family service will take place at a later date. A memorial mass will be offered.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Riverside Foundation for Healthcare, in care of Green Funeral Home, P.O. Box 427, Fort Frances, Ontario, P9A 3M8. Online condolences may be made in care of www.greenfuneralhomefortfrances.com Rest in Peace Nana

Ted and Sheila...I remember your mother so well. I was living across the street with my grandparents when your parents got what I imagine was the first television in the Fort.
