Teresa (Terri) Ann Ashworth
March 31, 1953 – February 10, 2020
Teresa (Terri) Ann Ashworth, 66, of Fort Frances, ON, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020 at the LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario. Her brief battle with cancer ended peacefully with the love and support of her family and friends.
Terri was born to Daniel and Nancy Connor on March 31, 1953, in Hillsboro, Wisconsin. In 1971, she graduated from Royall High School in Elroy, Wisconsin. Shortly after, Terri and her family relocated to International Falls, Minnesota.
She studied accounting at Rainy River Community College and began her career at George Armstrong and Co., from 1973-1987. In 1987, she accepted a position at D. McCool Transport, where she worked faithfully for Derald for the next 32 years as Office Manager, recently retiring in August, 2019. Aside from her work, she developed a close friendship with Derald and Bev McCool. Her adding machine skills were legendary and she did all her accounting by hand, up until her retirement. Her books always balanced.
In 1973, Terri married Noris Piccinato and moved across the border to Fort Frances, Ontario, calling it home for the rest of her life. Terri and Noris shared many adventures, along with their families and friends, including good friends Andy and Deb Hallikas.
In 1996, Terri married Dave Ashworth and became a stepmom to Mat, Joel and Nick. Terri and Dave opened and owned two businesses in Fort Frances, Jam21.Net and Domino’s Pizza. They traveled often, normally with family in Wisconsin or road trips with the Poor Boys band.
Terri spent over 20 years as an accomplished bowler at Plaza Lanes, always carrying a +200 average. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and watched tennis on TV regularly. Terri was many things to many people. She was as tough as they come and extremely smart, witty and relentless. She was also very generous, caring and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Terri had a strong faith in God and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church in Couchiching First Nation on weekends.
Terri is survived by her mother, Nancy Connor; brothers, Mike (Lynn), John (Melinee) and David; sister Casey (Charlie) Gentry; special friend, Dave Ashworth, and numerous other beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Daniel Connor; grandmother Nora Setzer, and her niece, Natasha Connor. She also cherished her two small dogs that left before her, Gizmo and Jack.
No formal service was held as per Terri’s wishes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and internment will take place at Debello Cemetery, in Hillsboro, Wisconsin.
