Alice Jacob

Alice Jacob (Omana), beloved wife of Jacob John (Babu) went to her heavenly

home on January 9, 2023, at the age of 74. Omana and Babu were blessed with 50

years of blissful married life. She is survived by her daughter Priya Thomas and

husband Vinoo Thomas and their three children – Priyanka, Vivek, Divya, and her

son John Jacob and wife Blessy Jacob and 2 children Giselle and Zara.

Alice was born on September 21, 1948, as the second daughter of Mr. K.E Philip

and Mrs. Mary Philip, Kalackad House, Payipad, Kerala, India. Alice was the light of

the family and in her earlier years, she worked hard to take care of her parents

and her siblings Mary Abraham, John Philip, and Susan Chacko.

Alice received her nursing diploma from the Amaravati General Hospital School of

Nursing in Maharashtra, India, and she retired after more than 30 years of service

as a registered nurse from Mercy Catholic Hospital in Philadelphia. She underwent

a double lung transplant at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in

Gainesville, FL on February 17, 2022. She was a very strong and confident woman

and faced the challenges in her life, especially in the last 14 months of treatment

fully trusting the Lord.

Alice was a devout prayerful person who had unwavering faith. She was a member of

the Philadelphia Mar Thoma Church for 40 years and after moving to Florida, became a

member of Mar Thoma Church of South Florida. She was a cherished member of the

Sevika Sanghom and the church choir. She witnessed the Lord and gave sermons at

her church. She was focused on raising her children and grandchildren in the love and

devotion to God.

She enjoyed her life fully. She was a devoted sports fan and was often seen

supporting her favorite Philadelphia sports teams. She also appreciated the

splendor of nature and gave particular care to her bottlebrush trees and orchids.

She loved and adored children and always had sweet treats stored away in her

purse. She enjoyed cooking meals for her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother,

sister, aunt, mother-in-law, grandma, coworker, and friend. She had a profound impact

on so many people’s lives and will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed.

A visitation for Alice will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Mar Toma Church Of south Florida, 4740 SW 82nd Ave, Davie, FL 33328. A funeral service will occur Friday, January 13, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 4740 SW 82nd Ave, Davie, FL 33328. A committal service will occur Friday, January 13, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2401 Davie Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33317.
