

Andrew C. Surdovel, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed away on November 9, 2023 after a brief illness. During the last days of his life, his wife, both of his children, and his sister provided love and support to him. He was 74.
Andrew was born on February 25, 1949 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Andrew J. and Gloria (Pepe) Surdovel. His family moved to Cornwall, New York in his childhood, and he graduated from Cornwall Central High School in 1967. He received his bachelor’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology with a major in Mechanical Engineering in 1972. His first job after college was at Bendix Corporation in Sidney, NY and he later worked for Star Expansion Industries in Mountainville, NY. He relocated to Florida in 1995. Andrew was a Licensed Community Association Manager (LCAM) for the state of Florida and a member of the Community Associations Institute (CAI). As project manager, Andrew oversaw two major restoration projects totalling $1.6 million and $4.0 million. He served on the Plaza South Board of Directors as President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee, as well as the Director of the Galt Mile Community Association. In addition, he served as the General Manager of The Galleon in Fort Lauderdale.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents Andrew J. and Gloria (Pepe) Surdovel. Andrew is survived by his loving wife Joyce Surdovel, sister Debra Garvin and husband Dennis Garvin, his daughter Karin Surdovel Ali and husband Naveed Ali, his son David Surdovel, niece Andrea Garvin-Thomson and her children Mikel (Leonardo) Gonzales and Giada Thomson, and six grandchildren: Nora Ali, Ahsan Ali, Zayn Ali, Katelyn Surdovel, Lucas Surdovel, and Chloe Surdovel.
