Anthony Daniel Calabrese

Anthony was born in New York City to John and Grace Calabrese and lived in Staten Island for many years before making South Florida his home for almost 50 years.

He married the love of his life, Evelyn, in 1958 and together they bore and raised their four children; John, Karen, Jeffrey and Lauren. Evelyn passed away in 2010 but the union of their love produced ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Anthony was a contractor by trade for most of his working life. He absolutely loved what he did and his work was exceptional. He was so sad, as were his customers, when he had to give it up at the age of 76 after a serious injury.

Anthony’s number one priority in life was his family. He built and cultivated an environment where his children and all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren felt safe, supported and loved. He created, instilled and passed down traditions and values that he felt were most important for a “family of love“ and he fulfilled and excelled at this on every level. Anthony was a man of great strength, compassion and love. He knew that his physical time with his family was imminent and he asked to speak to his children, grandchildren and the oldest great grandchildren so he could deliver a personal message to each of them. When he was done, he said “this was a good ending “ His family could not have felt more loved or have been more proud of him. His love,strength and composure as he prepared to depart was unparalleled.

Anthony is preceded in death by his parents John and Grace, his wife Evelyn and his eldest son John.

Anthony is survived by his partner, Maryann Dowling, His children; Karen Ragusa (Anthony), Jeffrey Calabrese (Angie), Lauren Ferguson (Tommy) Grandchildren; Anthony, Nicholas, Krystle, Toni, Joseph, Gianni, Danielle, Brooke, Timothy and Katelyn. Great grandchildren; Tony, Kinslee, Jaxon, Juliana, Jayden, Antonio, Evelyn, Delizia, Luca, Raelyn, Rylie, Lorelai and Theo. Great great grandchild; Alaiya and his brother Michael Calabrese (Patti)

At the request of Anthony a private family service will be held.

His family is very appreciative of the love and support received during this very difficult time.
