Audley George Chambers was born on October 6, 1926 and departed this life, September 1, 2018. He was the second of ten children born to Benjamin and Maude Chambers in Trelawny Jamaica, where he was educated in schools located in both Freemans Hall and Albert Town. He was a very respectful and diligent young man who during his early years assisted his parents with their farm.
He migrated to England in 1957 and worked alongside his younger brother, Donald Chambers at Youngs Brewery. Shortly thereafter, he obtained employment as a maintenance officer with British Rail until his migration to the United States. While in England he met and married the love of his life, Zipporah Cynthia Saddler on May 7, 1960. He was always admired for his style of dressing. He wore a suit and cap or hat for every occasion, hence the nickname Cap-man and Sarby for being a snazzy dresser.
In 1974, he migrated to New York and worked at Sea Crest Nursing Home in the maintenance department until his retirement in 1990. He relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida with his wife Cynthia Chambers in May 1990. While in Florida he and his wife joined Parkway Christian Church which they loved to attend.
He was a very charismatic man who was loved by his family, especially his grandchildren. The greatest humor was his unique way of pronouncing each of their names. He loved to cook and always invited friends over for dinner. If they could not make it, he would go out of his way to take food to them. The one thing we all could agree on is that he was always on the go. Even in retirement he played the role of a jack of all trades and jumped at any opportunity to do odd jobs for anyone who asked.
Overall, Audley George Chambers loved holiday gatherings with the family. He loved playing cards and dominoes and bragged about being the best player on earth.
On January 26, 2015 the love of his life passed away. They were married for 55 years. It was apparent how much he missed her as we watched him wear her picture on his lapel for one year. In the months prior to his passing, he was cared for by a wonderful aide, Brenda Francis whom he adored.
He is survived by his children: Daughters: Beverly, Barbara, Velma, Winnifred (Step-Daughter) Sons: Eric (Lloyd) and Kenneth. Siblings: Millicent Walker (sister); Cynthia Bryant (sister) and Donald Chambers (brother). He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grand, great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and many other relatives and friends.
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.
