Aurelio De Jesus Almonte “Aureliano” passed away on November 22nd, 2021 at the age of 83, after a courageous six year battle of various medical issues. He was surrounded by loved ones, who will continue his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. We are deeply saddened by the loss of Aureliano, our dear and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin and friend. Aurelio was a handsome, kind, 6 foot 1 man with piercing green eyes and a contagious laugh who showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Aurelio stayed strong until the end.

Aurelio was born in Santiago Rodriguez, Dominican Republic on July 16th, 1938. He was the 6th child out of 11 born to Domitila and Jesus Maria Almonte. Growing up Aurelio took life on with a laid-back attitude which he carried with him through the end. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Aurelio. He loved spending time with friends and family, gardening, biking, playing dominoes and eating his favorite foods.

Aurelio met his wife, Laura, when he immigrated to New York in 1962. They were married in Lima, Peru in 1965. Laura’s family welcomed him with open arms and embraced him as their own brother and son. Aurelio and Laura supported each other through 56 loving years of marriage. He will be survived by his wife Laura, three children; Cecilia, Aurelio and Laura, and five grandchildren; Joseph, Cameron, Luke, Elias and Quincy.

Aurelio will be dearly missed.
