Barry was born on 22nd Dec 1956 in Wolverhampton, in the West Midlands in England. He was the eldest son of Theresa and Winston Douglas and one of five siblings, brother to Jenny, Keith, Marie and Fay.
Barry attended Penn Secondary School. He was a popular student and excelled in track and field athletics winning numerous trophies for various events, and was also elected as Head Boy in his final year. He was a hard and studious scholar, and went to University to study accountancy and finance, before taking up various positions within that field. Whilst Barry’s West Midlands’ accent never left him, he did leave the West Midlands and England behind him, and emigrated to Florida in 1992.
Barry believed in family. His main priority has always been to make sure that his mother was well looked after. Barry continued his profession in the accountancy field and his love of finance and business keeping a firm hand on the TV remote whenever any of these programmes were on the television.
Born of Jamaican parents Barry was Jamaican through and through, visiting the island regularly and single-handedly boosting the revenue of the Jamaican coffee industry by drinking as much Blue Mountain coffee as he could. Barry loved his family, friends, travel, reggae music and his mango tree.
He is survived by his loving mother Theresa Douglas and his siblings Jenny, Keith, Marie and Fay, his good friend Lura Duncan, numerous cousins and family members and good friends. Barry will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
