Betty Ann Collins

Betty Ann Collins (Downs) age 90, born to Sarah Anna and Howard Forest Downs on July 1, 1933 in Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home in Pompano Beach, Florida on December 27, 2023. She was a 1951 graduate of Oakwood High School and lived in Dayton until 1972 when she moved to northern Michigan. With the help of family and friends, she built a home there and eventually became a successful bed & breakfast owner, retiring in 2005 and moving to Pompano Beach where she found an entire community of wonderful people in her condo. She loved to go to the pool and continued to swim her laps in the early morning until she died. She was an active member in AA program for 30+ years, sponsoring many. She loved and was beloved by her family and friends.

Betty is survived by her four children, Shelly Collins Steffano, Michael Jeffery Collins (Angel), Leanna Collins Hettinger (Jim), Richard Franklin Collins, Jr (Cathy), five grandchildren, Nicholas Alexander Steffano (Julie), Milan Chelsea Collins, Julia Lily Hettinger, Richard F. Collins III, and Tristan Collins, 2 great-children, Alexander James Steffano and Megan Marie Steffano, 2 sisters-in-law, Marcia Collins Hofmann and Nancy North Levant, and her Royal Coast family.
