Billy V Coats

Bill was born in Smithfield, North Carolina to Zeb and Annie Mae Coats on January 24th, 1939. He graduated from Anderson Creek High School in Bunnlevel, North Carolina in 1957 and married Marlene Coats on October 28th, 1961, in Hopkins, Minnesota.

He worked as a crane operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 675 for more than 25 years and worked security for Securitas for 15 years. Bill was involved in the Elks Club of Plantation, Florida for many years and participated with his wife in the Telephone Pioneers of America which was a charitable organization that encouraged community service.

Bill Coats is preceded in death by his parents Zeb and Annie Mae Coats, brothers William, John, Everette and sister Lucille.

Bill is survived by his wife Marlene Coats, his children Brandon and Brenda, sister Betty, brother Raeford, 3 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11a.m. to 1p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. and Burial will follow at 2p.m. on Thursday, March 6th, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home located at 2401 Davie Road, Davie, Florida 33317. Pastor Garry A. Gordon will be officiating.
