Deacon Carlentine Singletary, known to many as Carl, was born November 10, 1940 in Bladenboro, North Carolina. He was the 3rd child of the late Harrison and Azzie Bell Singletary. He gained his eternal wings on February 17, 2020 and is now with the Lord.
Carl grew up in Bladen County, North Carolina. Nurtured and guided by his Chris-tian parents, he accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Center Baptist Church.
As a young man, he met and married Frances L. Winfield of North Carolina.
Later in life when he moved to Florida, Carl became a member of Pine Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon .
Carl had a very distinguished career. Early in his career, he earned his fixed wings and helicopter license at Teterboro School of Aeronautics in New Jersey. Later, he became a Sargent in the US Air Force. After completing his term with the US Air Force, he worked with FAA in Miami for 35 years and retired as Aviation Supervi-sor. He was instrumental in hiring numerous minorities and other qualified individ-uals. Carl was also a member of several organizations: Black Pilots of America, American Legion, VFW (lifetime member) and many others.
Honoring his memory - his wife: Frances of Florida; son: Corie; one grandson: Kameron Spencer; several godchildren; one sister: Dr Saundra White of Bladen-boro, NC; one brother: Deacon William Singletary of Bladenboro, NC and host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Carl, a young man from rural North Carolina, became a trailblazer in the field of Aviation.
